Isolde – with its curvy flap, trefoil detailing and unusual closure – is one of the more elaborate designs in the range. This is a usefully proportioned clutch, and the shallow taper towards the top provides generous capacity whilst maintaining feminine lines.
Uniquely among all my designs, Isolde closes using a long tab with a rounded end which fits snugly into a keeper stitched to the front of the bag. I felt that this design wouldn’t be right with exposed metalwork, but for extra security there is a concealed magnetic closure, which allows the tab to locate satisfyingly in just the right spot.
The decorative stitching lines on the tab provide an extra layer of visual interest, meaning that this bag is ripe for experimenting with different colour combinations. With an almost medieval quality to the design and construction (and the name!), Isolde is a quirky but stylish marriage of old and new.
